Ice-cream treat for Tricity on Saturday

CHANDIGARH: The second edition of the ice cream fest to be organized at Sukhna Lake from July 12 to 14 to mark World Ice Cream Day promises to be a delectable treat. CITCO plans to put up a 20 feet tall ice cream cone at the fest. Besides, the lake will be decorated with colourful ice cream cones of all shapes and sizes. All conceivable varieties of ice cream will be available at the Sukhna Lake for the three days of the fest.
The ice cream eating contest, to be held at 6.30pm on Saturday and Sunday shall be an added attraction for people who will participate in the festivities. A total of 50 participants will be invited to eat half a litre of ice cream in two minutes. Other attractions will include live band performances, sky dances and ice cream tattoo making.
Some of the big brands participating in the fest include London Diary, Baskin Robbins and Giani"s. Traditional ice creams like chuskee, matka kulfi, ishar kulfi of Kalka, fresh fruit ice creams from Ambala and more will also be served. According to general manager, tourism, A K Malhotra, there will be ample entertainment quotient with joyrides and amusements.
Students of the Art College are working hard decorating part of the Sukhna Lake ahead of the event. Hanit, a student of the Arts College said, "We are a group of six who are working hard to decorate the area of the lake.
